PROGRAM

Departure of the excursion. The guide awaits you at the port with the sign "Shorexc".

Rental of Headphones (MANDATORY for Adults). They are paid directly to the guide.

Visit to the House of the Virgin Mary. According to the documents of the Ecumenical Council, the Virgin Mary came to Ephesus with John, settled in a house located in the place where the church is currently located, living her last years in this city. This place has been declared a holy place by the Catholic Church. Pope Paul VI visited this shrine in 1967.

Visit to the ancient city of Ephesus, where we will see the following ruins:

The Grand Theatre, which dates back to the Hellenic period. It was successfully rebuilt by the Romans in AD 1, increasing its capacity to 25,000 seats. This place was used by St. Paul to preach. It is currently used for concerts: Joan Baez and Jethro Tull are examples of the artists who have performed on this stage.

The Marble Route is located between the Library of Celsus and the Theater, and is part of the sacred passage.

The Library of Celsus is the best-preserved structure of its kind. It was built by the consul Tiberius Julius in honor of his father, Celsus, who was the Roman governor of Asia Minor in the early second century. His grave is in the library.

Next, the Temple of Hadrian, built in 118 and rebuilt in the fourth century. This temple, of impressive Corinthian style, has beautiful reliefs on its porch. According to the beliefs of the Ephesians, Medusa's head on the porch defended the city from its enemies.
