Description
This excursion will take you to Portimao, in the Faro district, in the heart of the Algarve. The area is proud to be one of the most desirable tourist destinations in Portugal, along with Lisbon.
According to all indications in the Neolithic there were already fixed settlements in the Algarve area. After its Arab and Christian past, Portimao reached its fullness as a city when Alfonso V gave it the title of "Vila Nova de Portimao". This incredible region, currently full of life and modernity, overcame an earthquake in the eighteenth century, and today is an internationally recognized place, with beautiful beaches and places of leisure, and a fishing and industrial activity that have endowed it with the tourist wealth that characterizes it.

Lagos is one of the most popular resorts in the area. With a fascinating past, the city was the place where the first auctions of African slaves were held and in its shipyards the caravels that sailed on the historic voyages of exploration were built.
The old town is full of personality with treasures such as St. Anthony's Golden Chapel, the site of the old slave market and the Statue of Henry the Navigator.
In Sagres, a small fishing port, we will discover more about Prince Henry since this was the place of his School of Navigation and from where his sailors left to explore the world.
At Cape St. Vincent you will see the spectacular cliffs 200 feet high. Also known as the "End of Europe", it was believed to be the end of the world during the Middle Ages. The views from the Cape are breathtaking.
At Baleeira Beach we will have another opportunity to take pictures of the magnificent views over the Atlantic Ocean.
