Description

Muscat is the largest city and capital of the Sultanate of Oman, located on the shores of the Arabian Sea. Discover on our excursion the spectacular beauty of this magical city.

The city is inhabited mainly by Muslim Arabs, and harmoniously mixes the simplest tradition with the ultramodern luxury of its shopping centers and residential neighborhoods of foreigners. Muscat is a tolerant and modern city, in which English speaking is quite widespread; Its inhabitants come from many nationalities, and that makes it a cultural and tourist attraction in the area. Incredible palaces, museums and mosques fill the capital with unsurpassed wealth in all of Oman.

Come and discover Muscat during your cruise, and keep the best possible memory of your trip. I'm sure you won't forget it!

PROGRAM

Arrival of the boat.

The guide awaits you at the exit of the boat, inside the port, with the sign "Shorexc".

We will start the tour with a panoramic tour on the bus through the beautiful embassy quarter of Muscat.

Visit of the Great Mosque of Sultan Qaboos. This mosque is the most important in the Sultanate of Oman. Inside it can accommodate 20,000 people. An important and curious element of the interior is the carpet that covers the floor of the prayer room. It contains 1,700,000,000 knots, weighs 21 tons and took four years to manufacture, and unites the design traditions of Tabriz, Kashan and Isfahan. 28 colors with different shades were used, most of which were obtained from traditional vegetable dyes. It is the second largest one-piece rug in the world and was hand-woven.

Departure to Muttrah, a charming district of Muscat. Before the discovery of oil it was the center of trade in Oman. The Muttrah Souq is perhaps one of the oldest squares in the Arab world because Muscat is the largest natural harbor in the world and has been immersed in trade since the time of sailboats, as it is strategically located on the way to India and China. We will be able to enjoy the beautiful merchants' stalls and the shopping experience in this busy souk, well known for its silver craft shops, perfumes and many more souvenirs.

We will continue to the old town where we will visit the Bait Al Zubair Museum (optional entrance, payable at destination), with its wealth of information and exhibitions on the culture, tradition and heritage of the country.

Finally, we will make a photo stop at Qasr Al Alam, the Palace of HM Sultan Qaboos, which is guarded by the Portuguese forts Jalai and Mirani.

Return to the ship.

End of the tour.
