Description
PROGRAM
Departure of the excursion. The guide waits at the port with the "Shorexc" sign.
We will start with a panoramic route through the Steine and Valbergs roads, where we can enjoy beautiful views to the east.
Arrival in Henningsvær.
Surrounded by the sea, and with the mountains behind it, Henningsvær, a fishing village, became in 1800 one of the most important fishing villages in Lofoten.
Unlike many other villages, the population of Henningsvær has remained stable in recent years, and there are still more than 500 people living there.
The islands were not connected to the rest of Lofoten by bridges until 1981, a fact that probably helped save the community from the contemporary style of architecture with its preference for concrete blocks, which otherwise left its mark on almost every other city and town in Norway in the 60s and 70s.
This combination of environment and well-preserved architecture make Henningsvær a unique site.
Departure to Svolvaer.
The sea and mountains, with their peculiar Svolvaergeita, have attracted many visitors (sailors, artists, sportsmen) for centuries to Svolvær. Today it is considered the city of art and culture in Lofoten.
You can stroll through its beautiful streets, or if you wish, you can visit The Ice Gallery (optional), where we can see the ice sculptures created by artists from all over the world, illuminated and presented with sound and music.
Return to the port, there will be a brief stop at the Hagkaret viewpoint, from there we can contemplate the Norwegian Sea, the Vest fjord and the peninsula.
Return to the ship.
End of the tour.
