Description
On this excursion you will discover Corfu, the legendary Greek island in the Ionian Sea. Its uniqueness has made it one of the favorite destinations for cruise passengers on excursions in Greece.
The island of Corfu is one of the most beautiful in Greece. Its privileged location has meant that throughout history it has become a magnificent compendium of cultures. Before joining Greece in 1864, it was under Venetian, French and British rule. The multicultural heritage is reflected in the peculiar architecture of the island: two medieval Venetian fortresses surround the capital, amidst the fabulous mountains that characterize the island. And all these wonders are bathed by the turquoise waters of the Ionian, which gives the traveler a sensational and unrepeatable experience: mountains, sea, history, rocks, but above all Mediterranean hospitality and incredible light.

PROGRAM
Departure of the Excursion. Go to the entrance of the port, the guides are waiting for you inside the terminal (customs building, salmon color) with sign "Shorexc". You can walk (short walk of 250 meters) or in the free shuttles that the port puts at your disposal.
ATTENTION: The Achilleion Palace will be closed all season due to different restorations. Instead we will visit Paleokastritsa, one of the most beautiful and visited places on the island. It is a formation of several bays of different shapes and colors, related to the legend of the mythical king of Ithaca, Ulysses, and scene of one of the James Bond films. In Paleokastritsa we will have an hour to visit by boat its bays and the blue caves, who does not want to go by boat has as an alternative to visit the monastery at the top of the hill, dating from 1228.
We continue our journey to the historic center of Corfu Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A cosmopolitan medieval city that until today bears all the marks of its millenary history. First a panoramic tour with the bus passing in front of the main fortresses and then a walk through its narrow streets to the main square (Plaza Espianada) and the buildings of Liston. Of course with free time to enjoy the atmosphere, taste the local products and, for those who are interested, visit some of the numerous churches, such as the most important of all dedicated to Saint Spiridon, patron saint of the island.
Return to the ship.
End of the tour.
