PROGRAM

Arrival of the boat.

You must go towards the Port Exit (SORTIE / EXIT) following the green line. When you pass the security checkpoint, the guide with the sign "Shorexc" awaits you. Depending on the pier where your cruise ship is docked, the walk could be approximately 15 minutes.

The panoramic tour will begin with a visit to the Palais de Longchamp. This monument was inaugurated in 1869 and was built to commemorate the arrival of the waters of the Durance River through a canal that began to be built in 1839, due to the lack of water that the city suffered. The Palace was declared a Historical Monument and houses the Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of Natural History.

We will return to the Old Port used since ancient times by the Greeks and which is currently reserved for fishing boats and tourist boats. You can admire the Forts St. John and St. Nicholas, built under the order of Louis XIV in 1666; the Romanesque Church of San Lorenzo, the Abbey of Saint Victor and the Palace of the Lighthouse, of Napoleon III.

Continue the walk along the coastal road (La Corniche), which is a beautiful walk overlooking the sea from the cove of the Catalans to the Frioul archipelago.

Visit to the Basilica of Notre Dame de la Garde, more commonly known as the "Bonne Mere". 40-minute stop. The Church is located at 162 meters high that will allow us to get a beautiful view of the city and the Castle of If.

We will finish the visit at the Muelle del Puerto, near the town hall. There will be a walk around the Old Port, renovated in 2012. You can see l'Ombrière de Norman Foster and enjoy the artisan market that is located during the tourist season. Here you can find the famous Marseille Soap, manufactured since the Middle Ages. A few steps away is the Hôtel Dieu, former hospital of Marseille of the eighteenth century and transformed into a five-star hotel and the Diamond House, mansion of the sixteenth century and one of the oldest in Marseille.
