Departure of the excursion. The guide awaits you at the port with the sign "Shorexc".
Places to visit:
– Ruins of Curium: They are located near the modern town of Episkopi, located in one of the most fertile areas of the island. Its extensive ruins and well-preserved mosaics stand out. Also of interest are the Public Baths, the Nymphaeum, the Necropolis, the Fontana House, Gladiator House and Achilles House. The most spectacular site in Kourion is the Greco-Roman theater, completely restored, used today for outdoor musical and theatrical performances.
– Kolossi Castle: A fine example of military architecture originally built in the thirteenth century and subsequently rebuilt in its present form in the mid-fifteenth century. It served first as the Grand Commandery of the Order of the Temple, and after the fall of Acre in 1291, as the headquarters of the Knights of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem. Kolossi and its castle are directly connected with a number of important events that constitute different interesting folds of the secular and stormy history of Cyprus.
– Place of birth of Aphrodite: According to legend, the goddess "Aphrodite" of love and beauty, rose from the waves in this place of extraordinary beauty. The Greek name, Petra tou Romiou "The Rock of the Greek" is associated with the legendary Byzantine border guard Akritas, who held off the attack of the Saracens with incredible force. It is said that he dropped this large rock into the sea, destroying the enemy's ships.
