Description

Our excursion takes you to discover the beautiful Dubrovnik, known as "The pearl of the Adriatic". Surrounded by walls and fortifications, it is one of the most important tourist centers of the Adriatic Sea. In 1979 the city was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

When you arrive in Dubrovnik you feel transported back in time. The city, formerly called Ragusa, retains the historical charm that has made it known as "the Dalmatian Athens". In its buildings and walls you can breathe the multicultural wealth that the city treasures; its Byzantine, Venetian, Hungarian and Turkish past give the town centre the elegance and beauty that characterise Dubrovnik. The Dominican Monastery, the Sponza Palace or the Cathedral of the Assumption will surprise you with their majesty. Did you know that Dubrovnik is one of the great scenarios of the series "Game of Thrones"?

Don't miss this amazing city on your Adriatic cruise. A real "must see" during your stopover in Croatia! Come with us to this delicious excursion, and keep the best memory of your trip.

PROGRAM

You will take a panoramic tour on the way to Dubrovnik, where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the city and the Côte d'Azur.

Arrival in the city. Upon arrival, the guide will lead you to the Pile Gate, where a tour of the main street of the city, called La Placa or Stradun, begins.

The following places will be visited:

The Dominican Monastery: It has the best collection of Renaissance paintings in Dubrovnik. Next to the paintings of the local and Italian masters stands a painting by Titian.

The Rector's Palace: Former seat of the Government and housing of the Rector. It is a beautiful building where several architectural styles converge. On the first floor of the building were the private apartments of the rector. Today, these rooms are part of the museum and house a small Pinacoteca with works by local and Italian painters of the sixteenth century.

The Cathedral of the Assumption: Built on the remains of the old building, destroyed by an earthquake in 1667. It has a valuable collection of gold and silver relics.

Other sites to be visited (outdoor):

The Sponza Palace: It stands out for its courtyard of columns with stone carvings and is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city.

The Church of San Blas: Built in 1715 on the site of a previous church destroyed during an earthquake. Built in Baroque style in the image and likeness of the church of San Mauricio in Venice. Inside, the statue of St. Blaise holds a model of Dubrovnik stands out.

Onofrio's Fountain: Formerly, it was fed by an underground aqueduct, which was once supplied with water from a nearby spring. Even today it is possible to drink water from one of its 16 pipes.

Depending on the time available, you can visit more monuments in the city.

After taking this guided tour, you will have free time to explore the "Old City".

Return to the ship.

End of the tour.
